Carien grew up in South Africa where she graduated in 1999. She has worked predominantly in the UK since 2000.

Her previous position was in a private hospital where she treated acute, chronic and post-surgical orthopaedic and musculo-skeletal problems. She has a special interest in shoulder problems as well as back and neck disorders.

Carien has worked as team physiotherapist for Camberley Rugby Club where she maintained her interest in sports injuries. She has post-graduate qualifications in Acupuncture and Clinical Pilates.

Carien is a competitive runner and triathlete and has completed the UK Half Ironman. She also enjoys playing the piano and flute.
